Hello, I'm Katrina Koller, owner of Body in Balance Therapeutic Massage. I practice Orthopedic Massage which is a modality that restores health and balance in the structures (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia) to keep joints, the spine and nerves functioning well. Rather than limiting focus to the area of pain or trigger points, I look at pain patterns and approach the muscle groups/joint structures (tendons, ligaments, fascia etc.) holistically to identify the root cause of your discomfort. This type of focused deep tissue massage is longer lasting, relaxing and can address injuries, chronic stress, surgical preparation or surgical recovery, and chronic or acute conditions.
Structural or Orthopedic massage combines a variety of advanced massage techniques like mayofascial release, rolfing, trigger point and neuromuscular therapy to restore unhealthy muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia and improve postural misalignment. Returning balance in your body not only improves blood and lymphatic flow, but unloads joints and relieves nerve compression while allowing inactive or dormant muscles to regain functionality. These techniques and the specific sequence in how they are applied are longer lasting and often more comfortable than many other deep tissue massage approaches. The result is you feeling newfound freedom in your body and more ease and clarity in your mind. A relaxed body is a productive body!
If you are already working with a Physician, Chiropractor, Physical Therapist, Personal Trainer, Acupuncturist or other health care practitioner, I am happy to team with them and become an integral part of your treatment plan.
Are you ready to invest in a self-empowering path to a more pain-free and active lifestyle? Call me at 612-618-7724 and we can discuss your condition or needs.

Body in Balance offers “orthopedic massage”
LINDEN HILLS — Home-based business Body in Balance Therapeutic Massage has a goal you don’t hear very often: to make sure clients don’t come back too often.
“Most massage therapists want you to come back weekly,” said proprietor Katrina Koller. “I try to get my clients to the point where they don’t need to see me every week.”
That’s because Certified Personal Trainer and massage therapist Koller specializes in orthopedic or structural massage, a discipline focused on treating injuries. Koller offers clients massages focused on injured areas, counsels them on how to strengthen the area and even consults with clients’ physicians or other health care professional on a treatment plan.
“It’s more about massage combined with health maintenance,” Koller said. “I can guide them on which muscles to strengthen, which muscles to stretch, really give them a lot of guidance on what they should be doing in the gym.”
